Dr. Tohme, DMDDr. Tohme obtained his DMD Degree from Boston University, Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 1991 where he was involved in research training in the Department of Oral Biology. He went on to obtain his PhD from Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester in 1995 while receiving advanced training in periodontology and his Doctor of Science degree in Periodontology from Boston University in 1998 where he served as an assistant professor of periodontics from 1998-2000. He has served as a Diplomate for the American Board of Periodontology since 2001, a Diplomate for the Michigan Board of Periodontology since 2001, the advisory Board of Owens Community College Department of Dental Hygiene since 2006 and has served on the Board of Directors for the Toledo Dental Society. He is currently the sole proprietor of Toledo Periodontics in Toledo, Ohio and Monroe, Michigan. Dr. Tohme enjoys membership with the American Academy of Periodontology, The American Dental Association, The Academy of Osseointegration, The American Association of Dental Research, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Ohio Dental Society, The Ohio Periodontal Society, The Midwest Dental Society, The Russell W. Bunting Periodontal Society and The Straumann Alliance President’s Club. He has published numerous articles and founded the Miles For Smiles 5K race in 2008.

Biennium continuing education requirements for RDHs are increased to 24 hours .
2010 UPDATE: Continuing Education Requirements for Ohio RDHs .

In the case of a dental hygienist who is seeking a registration renewal that is to be effective in the 2010-2011 registration period (registration that ended 12-31-2009), the dental hygienist remains subject to the former requirement to certify completion of a minimum of twelve hours of continuing education. For delinquent filers that did not meet the 12-31-2009 deadline and still have not registered, they are also subject to the twelve hour CE requirement.

In the case of a dental hygienist who is seeking a registration renewal that is to be effective in the 2012-2013 registration period (registration due 12-31-2011), the dental hygienist is subject to the requirement of those provisions to certify completion of a minimum of twenty-four hours of continuing education.

Therefore, currently licensed hygienists must complete a minimum of 24 hours by the end of this current registration period to be able to renew a license for the next registration period.
